Best 50″ 4k TV for Under $300

On a Mission

Last year I was looking to replace my Samsung TV with a new 4k Smart TV but didn’t want to spend a lot of money on my purchase. For weeks, I researched on Smart TVs, searched for online deals and read reviews. Finally, I decided to purchase the Hisense 50″ 4k Smart TV from Walmart.com.

Wall Mounting Kit

However, after reading the dimensions for the television, I realized it wouldn’t fit on my current TV stand. Taking a chance with my DIY skills, I also purchased the mounting kit recommended for the TV from Walmart.com.

I have to admit that the installation of the TV to the wall wasn’t easy and is definitely a two-person job. I also elicited the aid of my son. Probably the trickiest part of the install was to find studs in my wall within the distance of the holes I marked using a template for the wall mount. Unfortunately, the studs in my wall were too far apart and I had to anchor one of the mounting screws to the drywall.

I was nervous that the side of the wall mount screwed to the drywall wouldn’t support the weight of the TV, but my TV has held up on the wall for over a year now.

Hooking Up a FireStick

Now, I had a 4k FireStick device to setup. It was a little tricky to set up my FireStick to my new TV with my existing surround sound system and I couldn’t get any sound at first. So I ended up using the optical out on my surround sound system with FireStick device and have been really enjoying watching 4K HD movies from my FireStick on my HiSense TV with Dolby Digital surround sound.

Another thing I enjoy about the Hisense TV is that you can also install the Universal Roku app on your smartphone to use as a second remote for your TV. The remote that comes with the TV has NetFlix, Hulu, VUDU and Sling buttons built-in which is very handy.

Recommendation

Overall, I highly recommend the Hisense SmartTV from Walmart for those looking for a great SmartTV on a budget. You won’t be disappointed.
